Telephone hours are from 2:00pm – 4:00pm Monday through Friday. I try to get a jump on emails and return as many per day as possible which I send out many between 4:30am – 5:30am. Although I do work on Saturdays, I do not return calls or emails on weekends.
I do not function by hours I function by how many dogs per day. I start at 8:00am in the summer months and 9:00am during the winter months (those are all booked until December). Depending on the size, condition, type of cut and other variables I can work from 8:00am until 2:00pm and have groomed 9 – 10 dogs. Another day I will start at 8:00am and work until 4:00pm and have only done 4 dogs and as beat up as if I had groomed 10. When you are grooming St. Bernards, Newfies or some other 200 pound hairy kid, you cannot physically groom that many a day. I do work Saturday but I do not return phone calls or emails on the weekends.
The one thing that clients over the past 38 years will attest to is that I am either early or late but rarely on time. Most mobile service companies will give you a 2 -4 hour window. I try my best to give a 30 minute window but that does not always work. Weather, construction, accidents, people saying they only have a 30 pound dog and it is a 65 pound mutt, condition of the dog, people in general all create havoc during the course of the day. If I am going to be more than 15 minutes late from the time frame given I call. Always expect hiccups during snow.
